EnCase V7.12

While I have been a user of EnCase since V6 and onto V7 (which I love btw) I don’t have the history of fellow colleges who have been using it from as early as version 4 ! if not even sooner. I have been impressed guidance software over the years of how they listen to their customers and adapt to the changing landscape of forensics and security.

With the launch of V7.12 and its new updates which include

  • Enhanced support for Mac Operating Systems – The EnCase agent, which enables investigations across a network, is now compatible with El Capitan – the newest operating system for Macs. As the adoption of Apple desktops and laptops increase, the ability to conduct digital investigations into Apple’s OS becomes even more important.
  • Greater Visibility into Windows 10 – Users can now parse artifacts such as link files and Windows Event Logs on Microsoft’s newest operating system – Windows 10.
  • Faster Hash Analysis and Filtering -Hash analysis operations are now up to 10 times faster than previous versions of EnCase Forensic, resulting in significant time savings and improved efficiencies.

EnCase only gets better and better with each release, yes there has been the odd goof with indexing and reporting, but on the whole the product is one if not THE best digital forensic software tools on the market today.

There is a webenair on the 12th of April showcasing these and other developments
